Eastern Australia Ground Control Group

Who we are

The EAGCG exists to provide a forum for ground control practitioners to exchange ideas and disseminate information on ground control in an informal environment. It also provides a technical support network for isolated members.

It achieves these goals by holding two-day technical meetings twice a year at various mining centres or in nearby cities.

The Group is independent; it exists for the members and is run by the members.

Membership is open to all persons who attend any of the meetings and to all persons interested in ground control in mining in Australasia. Membership includes, but is not restricted to, mine site personnel, suppliers, consultants and regulators.

There is no fee to belong to the Group.

Attendance at meetings provides Chartered Professional Development (CPD) points.

Most Recent Meeting

The most recent meeting “Getting the Basics Right: Data Collection, Data Analysis and Empirical Methods” was held at the Windsor Hotel in Melbourne on November 17 & 18, 2011. It was a great success with plenty of discussion and sharing of ideas.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be a two-day workshop with Dr Nick Barton on the Q-system and the B-B model. If you are involved in the mining or civil engineering industries and using the Q system or one of its derivatives and have not attended one of Nick Barton’s workshops to find out how the techniques should be applied properly then this workshop will be invaluable.

The meeting will be held at the Windsor Hotel in Melbourne on February 2 & 3, 2012.

A flyer for this event has been distributed to members of the EAGCG, AGS and ISRM. The flyer can be downloaded HERE. If you are not a member of one of these Groups or Societies please contact the EAGCG to be placed on the mailing list.

If you are not on the mailing list join now.
